My parents once saw a t-shirt that said "I am off in my own world but don't worry they know me there!" It probably is a good way to describe my approach to the world of animation: living, breathing, and understanding the characters in ways that bring them to life for everyone. There is always the look that an animator can give a subject but it is also making the audience feel the character or scene they are watching. Interpreting the references, understanding their subtleties, and blowing it all up into an
animation that reaches people in an instant is very cool! Many of the characters in my portfolio have animals as a base and I have tried to study and personify them in many ways; right down to working as a 7-foot tall raccoon mascot! This empathy for others also works well amongst the diverse personalities found on animation teams. It is an asset when working together and producing great animation that really connects with the audience. Ever since I graduated with my college animation diploma in 2019, I have been credited on five different TV series. Each of the productions had their own unique set of challenges that helped grow my ability to quickly recognize and understand the intentions for the characters, and then transition them smoothly into animation. I hope that your visit to the Graphite Knights and my portfolio gives you a sense and feel for the world that I see.
